How to give a bilingual education to your child in Paris?

1. Bilingual schools

More and more parents are realizing the advantages of bilingual schooling and are therefore in favour of this type of school.

In the Paris region, some thirty nursery schools offer a French-English environment. They are varied establishments (Montessori, international...) with often high but relatively diversified fees. You will find a list of them at the end of this article, classified according to tuition fees.

2. English language discovery workshops for children

Another approach to English for children can be found in English classes for 3-6 year olds. Such workshops, often playful, are a second option to get the child's ear used to the sounds of a new language.

À Paris, de nombreux cours de ce type existent avec des approches et des activités variées comme Le Bus Anglais, Kids&Us, Kiddies Club, ou encore Les Petits Bilingues. L’association DULALA (D’Une LAngue à L’Autre) propose des ateliers bilingues basés sur le jeu dans de très nombreuses langues, notamment destinés à des enfants de parents parlant une autre langue que le français à la maison.

3. The English-speaking guard

Finally, an alternative solution for exposing children's ears to a foreign language is to have them looked after by an English-speaking person (if they are to be taught English!). Specialised childcare agencies exist, such as be my nanny, Nanny Agency, Baby Speaking, Babylangues or Eveil bilingue. It is also possible to hire an au pair directly.
